System requirements
Hardware
CodeSmith Generator is compiled against the .NET Framework 4.8. Your computer must meet Microsoft's system requirements for the .NET Framework 4.8.

| Registry access at run time | Generator stores its settings under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\CodeSmith. |
| Registry access at install time | The installer writes to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT to register Windows file associations. |
| Visual Studio 2022 (version 17) | Optional. Required only for the Visual Studio integration (not part of Generator Server). Generator doesn't install into later versions of Visual Studio. |
Generator is fully tested running under User Account Control (UAC). By default, it stores samples and related data in folders your user account can write to (your Documents and AppData folders).
