CodeSmith Tools, LLC ("CodeSmith Tools", "we") respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect through codesmithtools.com and our products, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information you give us
- Account and trial registration: your name, email address and password, and optionally your phone number, company, number of developers and how you heard about us. We email you a link to verify your address.
- Purchases and quotes: your name, company, billing address, phone number and email address, and the products you buy or quote.
- Support and feedback: anything you include when you email us, use the contact form, report an error or submit a testimonial.
Payments
Card payments are processed by Stripe. You enter your card details into Stripe's secure form and they go directly to Stripe; your card number never passes through or is stored on our servers. With your order we keep only the card type, its last four digits, its expiration date and Stripe's transaction reference. See the Stripe Privacy Policy.
Information collected automatically
- Server logs: like most websites, our servers record your IP address, browser type, the referring page and the pages you visit.
- Cookies: we use cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your shopping cart.
- Google Analytics: we use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used, such as which pages are viewed and, for completed orders, the order total and the products purchased. Google Analytics uses cookies and receives your IP address. See how Google uses this information, or opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
- Error and usage monitoring: we use Exceptionless, a CodeSmith Tools product, to record errors and which pages are used so we can find and fix problems. If you are signed in, these reports identify your account.
How we use your information
- To process orders and quotes, deliver license keys and invoices, and provide Premier Support.
- To provide trials and downloads, and to run your account.
- To send email about your account, orders, trials and support, including follow-up after a trial or purchase and reminders before your Premier Support expires.
- To send product updates and offers, only if you opt in. You can opt out at any time from your account profile or our unsubscribe page.
- To keep the site secure, prevent fraud and fix problems.
Who we share it with
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us run our business, and only as needed for that purpose:
- Stripe, for card payments.
- Microsoft Azure, which hosts our website and database.
- Mandrill (Mailchimp) and Mailjet, which deliver our email.
- Google, for Google Analytics.
- Authorized resellers, for orders placed through them.
We may also disclose information when required by law.
Our software
CodeSmith Generator does not collect personal information from you or from your code. When you activate a license, Generator sends your license details and an anonymous identifier for your computer to our license server so the license can be validated.
Security
Every page of our website is served over HTTPS, and access to our systems is restricted and password-protected. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.
Keeping and removing your information
We keep account and order records for as long as your account exists and as needed for licensing, support, tax and accounting. You can update your details and email preferences on your account profile. To request a copy of your information, or to have it corrected or deleted (other than records we must keep), contact us.
