CodeSmith Insight

Searching

Under the hood, CodeSmith Insight is driven by an advanced search engine.

Basic: Logic and Fields

Insight allows you to search for specific fields. This means that you can specify when you want to search specifically for a case of type Feature Request. You may also use logical statements in your queries, such as "AND" and "OR". Continuing with the previous example, this means that you can search for a case of type Feature Request or Inquiry.

All case fields are available for search. This includes everything from string fields such as Title, to numeric fields such as Children, and even date fields such as Created or LastModified. But you are not restricted to only searching for default fields, all Custom Fields added to the system are also searchable.

Advanced: Ranges and Macros

When searching for numbers or dates, Insight allows you to search for a ranges of values. This means, for example, that you are able to search for cases create inside of a specific time period, or cases with more than a specified child count, and so on.

Insight also provides a series of intelligent macros to make searching easier. These include date time macros such as "today", "yesterday", and "last week". These also include user macros such "me", which replaces itself with the name of the currently logged in user.
