CodeSmith Insight

Merging

Cases in CodeSmith Insight can be merged together in a two level hierarchy of parent and child cases.

Manual Merging

Cases in CodeSmith Insight may be manually merged. While you are navigating through items, Insight is automatically searching for similar cases. If you see a duplicate, it's as easy as dragging the case over and stacking them together, merging the dragged case into it's now parent.

Automatic Merging

When crash reports arrive in Insight they are automatically merged with similar crash reports. Any crash reports that have matching exception types and originated from within the same method will be automatically merged together.

When automatically merging cases, the Case Detail Level on the parent case controls how much data from the child case is stored, or even if the case is stored at all. This helps prevent your system from getting too cluttered, and helps eliminate white noise.
